Display Central: Display Industry is Still under Distress

Someday we'll find out how big that "IF" is.

"The remaining question is where is the display industry going?  When we look at the latest trends in our industry, we see that most discussions are centered around wearable devices such as augmented reality headsets and Smartwatches.  Both could bring significant numbers of unit sales, but given their size, only marginal display area.  If the headset takes off, the winner here will be the microdisplay makers and not the LCD makers that produce TVs today. Other than wrapping large objects in displays, there seems to be no application in sight that would use all of this LCD capacity we built up over the years.  Does anyone have a great idea what to do with all this LCD capacity?"
