Where are the Abstraction Layers?

 I guess it's too simple to say it'll happen when demand becomes large enough for head mounted displays which will, in turn,   create an economic incentive to write them. We have to reduce the uncertainty in this space or we'll all lose it. Before an HMD Driver we need an economic driver.
