Navy picks Creative Microsystems to design next-generation night-vision technology

this coincidentally will carry the Army through the 5 year production cycle for EMVGs presumably with the hope that these guys can design the lower cost system the Pentagon craves. But NVGs costing hundreds of dollars? If readily available where's the advantage of night vision if everyone will be able to see in the dark?
