As usual something is hiding in the shadows of this PR related to eMagin's Contract to Upgrade the US Army Helo Helmet, ( BTW Green always increases visual acuity in low light environments)

anyway to parse it a bit. The 30 months is up on the development contracts for the high brightness displays and the 30% more efficient backplane. 30% increased efficiency doesn't make a heck of a lot of difference to an Apache, Kiowa, Chinook Pilot but a substantive improvement to someone who might want a VR Headset that does not require thick gnarly wires. And would rather remain untethered:

From AM PR

“Whether it involves surpassing the rigorous requirements of the aviation market, or creating truly immersive virtual reality experiences in the consumer segment...

Amal Ghosh, October 2014

In addition, a highly improved backplane technology will be developed under this program. This advanced backplane will enable significant performance improvements in the OLED device including more than 30% reduction in power consumption compared to the existing backplane technology.”
