Yeah, the weatherproof criticism is valid, however, straighttalk neglected to mention the cost of the GEN III, the weight, the need for a helmet, ungainly, take care not to remove lens cap in a high brightness situation, reticle burn, does not record, does not flip up w/o adapter, batteries, narrower field of view, military look and feel, no ballistic eye protection, it is not challenging switching on the IR Illuminator,

and first youtube post pointing folks towards TNVC? I'm guessing he bought the Torch for comparison's sake and perhaps an ulterior motive. Ya think? I bought one at $999.00 as well and felt I was getting a good deal. And good grief Mertens you want everything to be free.

I bought one earlier this year here in the US for $999. Strange that they would increase the price to $1699?? The unit is very nicely built although I wish it was weather proof (like my Gen 3) since I'm outdoors a lot. You also need to do a review in complete darkness. You will definitely need to use the built in IR illuminator in the dark and if you're out in a field, you'll need a more powerful IR flashlight device to see off in the distance. At $999, this was a deal, but at $1699, you should definitely take a look at Gen 3 night vision devices as well.
